why do dogs tilt their head?

Munster

One of the cutest poses a dog can do is tilt their head! It looks like they are trying to understand what you are saying! Most commonly a dog will tilt their head to try and hear clearly. The tilt of the head enables their ears to become more uncovered and the flap of their ear will move, resulting in the sound they were detecting to become clearer.

Generally most dogs will take the move upon themselves, as long as they know the family is moving with them.

If everything stays the same for your dog it should be a pretty simple change over, although if the move results in a change of routine, backyard, or new pets, the dog may feel uneasy and out of place.

Additionally change of the flooring, such as new floorboards can pose problems for your dog, especially for big dogs it can be tough for them, loosing balance easily! To learn more about how to move your dog when you move house, click here !

We use a Feliway Diffuser in our clinics, this spray aids in improving signs associated with fear and stress in kittens and cats. This is another way we make your Cat’s trip to the vet more comfortable and anxiety free.kitty

The scent that Feliway releases is an imitation of the pheromone that cats naturally give off when they feel relaxed in their surroundings. As a cat owner you know how much your cat likes to rub their body against people or objects. Whenever they do this, it releases the pheromone to mark its territory.

Minor changes such as moving furniture or even redecorating will remove their natural odors and can make your cat uncomfortable and may prevent them from releasing the pheromone. Cats are very sensitive animals, changes in your schedule, new people around the house or going away will stress them out.

Cats love routine and need a consistent environment.

Stressful feelings can lead to miserable behavior and may result in your cat being disconnected with you, hiding away or mischievous behavior.

Feliway will enable your cat to maintain the feeling of relaxation to decrease stress that your cat may experience in unusual or new situations.

This is why we use Feliway in our clinic!Feliway_60mL_Spray__90544.1415337254.500.659-300x300

Have you been asking yourself if it is appropriate to go on a road trip with your dog? For majority of dogs, they will just love being able to spend time with you, regardless of the place.
Depending on the size of the dog will decide if they are placed in a carrier for small dogs or for larger ones, doggy seat belts are available!

If they are a smaller dog, you want to get your dog to enjoy the carrier and to have a positive association with it. You could get them used to the carrier at home, placing food inside to entice them to go in. It is best to start this from when they are a puppy but it can also be taught to adult dogs. The task of picking the perfect toy for your cat may sometimes be tough but it is important to understand the character of their species.

However, usually the typical toys provide the most erratic movement and piercing sounds to allow your cat to be distracted for hours.  Additionally cats enjoy being able to pick up their toys, therefore little items or toys are more appealing than bigger ones.
