Part-Time or Fulltime Head Nurse

Are you an organised, proactive professional with a passion for animals and people? We’re looking for a motivated Head Nurse to help support and elevate our veterinary practice. This is a part-time or fulltime leadership opportunity ideal for someone with experience as a senior veterinary nurse who’s ready to step up and make an impact.
About The Practice
Both our practices are award winning, with VSBSA hospital accreditation at Pet Universe Broadview. Pet Universe Northgate has an increasingly complex surgical & rehabilitation caseload as well as our unique feline only entrance. Both our practices hold Gold Cat Friendly Accreditation through the International Feline Medicine Society.
About the Role
As Head Nurse, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day coordination of our veterinary team, ensuring the smooth operation of the practice and contributing to a supportive, positive workplace culture. You’ll also be
- Passionate about delivering gold stand care to pets
- Committed to providing hands-on clinical leadership
- Keen to mentor, teach & support the healthcare team
- Able to oversees daily operations, and contributes to clinic efficiency and client care.
- Strong in your clinical, communication, and leadership skills
- Competent in administration duties such as ordering and stocktake
- Hardworking, able to lead by example & possess a can-do attitude
- Able to work flexible hours (because animals don’t do 9-5!)
- Open to change and new technologies (transition to g. cloud-based PMS)
- Permanent part time or full time position (minimum of 30 hours a week )

What You’ll Be Doing
- Be the face of our practice—greet clients with a warm welcome and make them feel at ease.
- Manage bookings and ensure follow-ups are scheduled.
- Educate pet owners about our services and products in a caring, helpful way.
- Recommend services, treatments, and products to support pet health.
- Keep things running smoothly—coordinate client arrivals, departures, and emergencies.
- Handle paperwork, insurance claims, and maintain a clean, welcoming reception area.
- Learn about pet health, medications, diets, and retail products.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong customer service skills (hospitality or retail background? Perfect!).
- A multitasker who stays cool under pressure.
- Someone who loves animals (of course!).
- A team player with great communication skills.
- Availability for weekdays, evenings & some Saturdays.
- A positive, can-do attitude.
